This is a Colt Detective Special all original finish with Mother of pearl grips that appear to have been on this piece forever as the inside of the frame surely match the staining on grips.Its in 38 special calibre and the mechanics are very tight and work perfectly .The Bore is minty as well as the cylinder interior.Doesn't appear to have been shot much at all. Just carried a lot in its life surely in a holster? The ser# indicates its a 1932 piece, The factory letter indicates it was shipped to John Jovino gun shop in New York.The oldest gun shop in new york and a big supplyer to the NYPD .This piece could have been a police officers gun ,detective ? The enitials on the grip are (WJK) some research may lead to someone with those enitials? The Box(original not a repro) is in remarkable good condition for its age. The bottom is numbered to this gun Twice. The original factory ser # in pencil and marker numbers in bold letters.This is a well used piece with almost all of it original finish intact but with a lot of use.small tiny pits a lot of scratches holster wear etc. Its not a high finish piece but still remaines good looking for a snubby with a lot of cary use and history.Great Ganster or police gun.
