Description:
This is a beautiful factory nickel finish Smith & Wesson Model 19-5 with a 4" barrel and the original box.  The Smith & Wesson Model 19 was introduced in 1955 and was a huge commercial success for S&W.  It quickly earned a reputation for being well built, reliable, and accurate.  Today, the Model 19 is considered an American classic and is collected by many enthusiasts.  This 19-5 example is serial number AWZ4147 and was manufactured in 1987, after S&W made the 5th and final engineering change by eliminating the cylinder counter-boring.  It is in excellent all-original condition.  The factory nickel finish rates 98% with only some very tiny handling marks visible under close inspection, and some light carbon on the cylinder face that could be removed with a little elbow grease.  The case colored hammer and trigger still show a lot of the original colors, with only the face of the trigger showing finish wear.  The bore is minty and bright in this Smith & Wesson.  The rifling still looks new with sharp lands and grooves, and there is zero pitting or erosion visible.  The cylinder bores are equally as clean and free from any defects whatsoever.  The original factory checkered Cocobolo "Target" grips are particularly attractive on this Model 19, and are in excellent condition.  The grips are free from any cracks, repairs, or signs of wear, and both sides match each other almost perfectly.  They have some beautiful figure in them, and the checkering is still crisp and clean.  This Model 19-5 still functions 100% like the day it left the factory.  The action is smooth and locks up tight.  It is perfectly "in time" whether using single or double action operation.  The trigger is very nice and breaks cleanly without any grit or drag.  This Smith comes with the original factory box with the serial numbered end-label still attached.  There is no manual or tool kit but the carboard insert and anti-rust paper is still inside.  If you have been looking for a really nice and all-original Model 19 for your collection this revolver would be a great choice.  While it has been lightly used it was certainly well-cared for and never abused.  These Model 19s are excellent investments and seem to go up in value every year.
