UNIQUE Engraved Belgian 4-BARREL Pistol 22 RIMFIRE
Vest Pocket Made Circa 1900 in Belgium
Here we present a very unique Belgian 4-Barrel Pistol, made circa 1900. This pistol holds 4 shots of .22 rimfire in superposed barrels. This pistol was designed to be very small and slender to fit in a vest pocket for self-defense. The trigger folds on a hinge for this purpose as well. The pistol is loaded by pressing the lever at the top to release the barrel cluster to pivot downward. The manufacture is also unique in that the frame is made of two flat plates that are held together by screws, with the mechanism housed inside. The entire exterior is nicely engraved with floral motifs.
The left side of the frame is marked “BREVETE/335” and there is a bit of the maker’s mark left above it. The left side of the grip is marked “BELGIUM”. The right side of the top barrel is marked with Belgian proof marks.
This is not a complete firearm as springs and a striker are no longer present. The metal surfaces show some wear. The engraving is still visible. Most markings are legible. The bores are dark with distinct rifling. The action is not functional.
