NEAR MINT ORIGINAL WINCHESTER MODEL 42 SKEET .410GA. 28" SOLID RIB PUMP SHOTGUN, CIRCA 1951. Serial number "89XXX" and matching. 28" matte rib (solid rib) with crisp address marked 2 1/2"(correct for 28" skeet guns then). 28" Skeet guns marked "Skeet" and 2 1/2" were rare for this vintage as VERY few made in this configuration(solid rib). See Schwing's book on the 42, page 146. All screws unturned. Takedown lever and mechanism does not appear ever taken down. 99% original brilliant blue on barrel. Factory front bead. 99% original blue on receiver as well with only slight signs of use. Almost all the blue on action arm of forarm too. Stock and checkering are crisp. A few typical very light use scratches/small dings to stock and forearm the norm. Mint mirror bright bore. Factory Winchester buttplate. Perfect working order and flawlessly cycles. Nice collector or showpiece on the skeet field or field for upland birds. Prime example never been refurbished which is usually the case and desirable solid rib.
