It is a 53 cal marked 54 . Is very clean, nicely shaped to Hawken dimensions. Finish is rust brown,and very well done. Bore is shiny and bright,no rust on clean patch..

I appreciate you interest. This is a great ol rifle, doesn't appear to have seen much use. Rear sight has been moved forward and the original dovetail nicely plugged.
The Mexican coin inlay is of 1979 minting,which is according to the barrel stamp when this barrel,at least,was made.
There was an ad in a period magazine offering this gun as a commemorative of the Mexican War? .
