For sale, a very cool vintage Kentucky State Police Winchester Model 12 Riot Gun in 12 gauge. This Model 12 is serial number 1320940 and was manufactured in 1952. It was purchased by the Kentucky State Police to be used by their officers on patrol duty. The KSP stamped their property mark on the left side of the receiver "Kentucky State Police Property", along with electropenciling a four digit and two digit number below that stamp. Those two numbers are "1641" and "39" and while we are not sure of their meaning, they were likely precinct/district and inventory numbers. This Model 12 was originally finished with a gloss blue finish when it left the factory but somewhere along the line it was parkerized, likely by a KSP armorer. This Winchester is in perfect working order and mechanically it is in excellent shape. The action is smooth and locks up tight. All of the controls work 100% like the day it left the factory. The bore in the 21" inch cylinder bore barrel is in excellent condition, free from pitting, dents, bulges, or imperfections of any kind. The original plain American Walnut stock set is in great shape, free from any cracks or repairs with only minor handling and storage marks visible. The original factory Winchester-branded buttplate is still in place, and in good shape and tight to the wood. The length of pull is 14" inches to the end of the plate. If you are a collector of State Police weapons or Winchesters in general this Model 12 Riot Gun would be an excellent addition to your collection. It is very interesting to think about what action this Winchester could have seen when it was carried in the line of duty!
