Description:
Very nice stevens 44 in 25-20 caliber. bore is pretty good. No rust present but it appears a previous owner tried to remove some rust on the barrel...appears rubbed with fine steel wool(should show in pictures). The rear lyman sight is present. I believe these sights were lyman 21P. Not sure about that,maybe someone can correct me if wrong.Always open to learning something. Most if not all stevens on the internet have a rear buckhorn. This is the only one I can find with the lyman receiver sight present.There are no sling swivels present.Case hardening exist as shown in pictures.The wood is very nice for the age and looks original to me with no attempts to refinish or alter in any manner. The wood has a "shine" to it because I wiped it down with "honey wax",that is all that has been done to the rifle with the exception of gunoil on the metal surfaces and the bore for storage.if you like lyman aperture sights now is the time to buy this Stevens.
