Barrel marked “London” on top flat. John Blanch (born 1784) apprenticed to Jackson Mortimer and later John Manton. This coach gun is in exceptionally fine condition. The gun shows handling use with some minor nicks and dings but exhibits no real use. The barrel is excellent no marrs or scratches. The lock has a sliding safety and a roller frizzen. All are tastefully engraved. The spring bayonet (8¾” in length) works perfectly. The trigger guard features a traditional pineapple finial. The Bow Tang and buttplate are engraved en suite. The Stock is very well checkered with no dents or bruises. The ramrod has a metal jag on the end and a horn tip on the other. Altogether, this is a very fine coach gun by a well-respected maker.
