Description:
Very fine percussion Stalking rifle. Beautiful and Elegant “LePage – Moutier a Paris” on the lock. Caliber is .60. Superb fine Damascus barrel and lower rib with a different Damascus pattern. The barrel is swamped on an almost imperceptible slope form approximately the rear sight to the muzzle. Nose cap. Lock, trigger guard, buttplate and breech plug are all engraved en suite and finished in French gray. Barrel length is 23¼” and overall length is 40½”. The stock is excellent and the checkering in likewise perfect.
This rifle being signed “LePage- Moutier” would date this rifle to 1842 when Moutier succeeded Henri LePage. The rear sight is graduated from 2 to 6 and the digits face rearward. The 100 meter mark is on the base of the sight and faces forward. This is an elegant rifle that would be a pleasure to own!
