The Colt Commander Model (Pre-70 Series) was made from 1950 to 1969. The light weight 1911 pistols were fitted with a 4 1/4 inch barrel, checkered brown plastic grips, alloy full size grip frame, alloy main spring housing, and were chambered in 9mm Para., .38 Super, and .45 ACP.. This 1952 vintage Commander is as described and is chambered in .45 ACP.. It is in fine original condition, retaining 85-90% of its original blue finish, with most thinning on the top of the slide between the muzzle and ejection port and on the main spring housing. The grips are in good condition, fit OK, and as is typical of grips made during this time frame have shrunk somewhat, but have no cracks or chips. The bore is bright,with sharp rifling, and the action is tight and functions perfectly. Comes with (1) 7-round magazine. Sorry, no box or paper-work.
