Description:
In 95%, original, crisp condition, this is a good example of a mid-war (1944), milled finish Walther PP that is marked Crown "N" and has a very attractive reddish-toned frame and trigger.  Bore is very good, solid gun overall!
Brought home by a Utah Beach veteran from North Carolina in 1945 after surviving the war in Europe.

"My grandfather’s brother Tom Winchester from Bryson City, N.C. never learned how to swim, but out of necessity while chasing his older brothers in the woods and creeks near Fontana River (now Fontana Lake). Not being able to swim he got the bright idea to grab some rocks to hold him down a bit as he  waded into a creek and held his breath till he came up  on the other side of the creek! This progressed through life and he must have gotten good at it-- as his boat landing at Utah Beach on D-Day put them all in 15 feet of water with weighty packs. He survived by “Holding His Breath” as that’s what he had practiced-many a time!

Survived the war and got this gun off of a German Officer. If anyone would research my Uncle Tom Winchester and find out what company he was with ,that would be nice."
