#19001, Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London; Winners Of All The "Field" Rifle Trials, A Holland & Holland Back Action Dominion Grade Sidelock Extractor Toplever 500 3 1/4" Black Powder Express Double Rifle Made 1905, From the Fred Huntington of RCBS collection, 27 1/4" London proved steel barrels, Full length rib with a fold-up night sight and 1 standing & 2 folding express sights, Bushed strikers, Long top strap that goes over the comb, Top tang safety, Action inscribed "Charge 5 Drams, Case 3 1/4 Inches", Lever release forend, Horn grip cap, Outstanding piece of wood with excellent black/brown contrast, Shadowline cheekpiece, Sling eyes, 14 1/2" LOP over a Silvers 7/8" pad, 10 lbs., Border Engraving, The frame and lockplates with original case colors that remain at 15% but with a very nice patina, The barrels reblacked by an absolute professional and the striking is as sharp as day one, They were not buffed and all the legends are as sharp as the day they were cut, The buttstock and forend were never sanded and just oil applied; The really strong point to this gun is the bores as they remain excellent plus and remain like new, They look like the day they left 98 New Bond Street in 1905, The wood is very sound and is stout inside relative the inletting and will last another lifetime. This is a very stout classic BPE double that has a lot of life to go and completely ready for the 21st century. This is flat one good looking and extremely solid rifle in every respect from metal to wood with bores as new. Here is first rate quality back action sidelock with style, grace, workmanship, handling and H&H romance from a great period at the pinnacle of sporting guns in the early years of the 20th century. It is nice to know it was in the possession of a great gentleman, Mr. Fred T. Huntington, the champion of reloading. If you have ever reloaded a cartridge in your life it was touched by a Huntington RCBS product.
