Description: SOLD...Excellent Smith & Wesson “safety” hammerless 1st model. Here is an excellent little Smith safety model in .32 S&W black powder. Has the standard 3” barrel. S/N 26480 and all matching of course. This is an early 1st model as the S/N range on these is 1 through 91417 made from 1888 to 1902 so it is absolutely antique range. This little gun retain quite a bit of original nickel finish. The barrel has at least 85% finish. The cylinder has about 70 % and the nickel has flaked off down in the flutes. The frame has about 95 %. The trigger has all the case colors on the left side as you can see. The trigger guard has nice traces of blue on the sides. The balance of the gun is smooth gray color with no pitting anywhere. Just shows normal light wear from being carried in a pocket as most of these were. Shows no abuse. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. Barrel to frame latch is rock solid as is the hinge. NO play or wiggles anywhere. The bore is near excellent with just some very light frosting and is not pitted nor are the chambers. Should shoot like a new gun with proper black powder loads of course. The screw heads are still sharp and crisp and show no abuse. Excellent front sight never filed on or messed with. The grips are very nice with no cracks or chips and a perfect factory fit. They do show normal wear to the checkering from pocket carry only as is very common on this model. These made excellent pocket revolvers as they have no hammer spur to catch on clothing and many were used as “hide out” or back up guns in the day for very good reason.. Very reliable and well made revolvers.. This is a very nice, never fooled with little S&W and would still make a great little carry gun or back up revolver for close range if needed and is priced right for the collector or shooter. $15 insured shipping.
