EUROPEAN Antique Flintlock DRAGOON Pistol 18th Cent
Boar on the Lock & Grotesque Face Mounted Pommel
Here we present an antique Flintlock Dragoon Pistol, made circa the 18th Century in Europe. This pistol features a 13-1/4 inch-long, .60 caliber barrel. The lock is made of solid brass, and has a boar engraved into it. The large brass pommel is mounted with a grotesque face. The left side of the gun is mounted with a scrolled side plate. The trigger guard has been engraved. The barrel has a ridge on top that leads up to the front sight nub. The stock is carved. There are no obvious makers marks on this specimen.
The overall condition is good. The metal parts are dark with age. The depictions are clear. The stock has lost its forward part. The jaws on the cock have been professionally recreated and welded onto the original base. The style does the rest of the pistol justice, with its lack of patina and newer edges being the most significant differences. The bore is smooth and clean. The action is excellent. This is a very handsome Dragoon pistol for a very affordable price.
