Description:
SOLD...Very nice antique Smith & Wesson 1st model “Baby Russian”. A nice and tight Smith & Wesson Baby Russian model. Standard 3 1/4” barrel in S&W .38 caliber black powder. Very early S/N 1939 and all matching. Quite a bit of original finish remaining with the barrel at 90%. The cylinder has about 80% and the frame at about 80% also including the front and rear grip straps. Has some light surface crud and some small specks of flaking on the right side of the barrel and frame as you can see in the photos. The balance where the nickel has worn or flaked off is a brown patina and never cleaned on or messed with. Has no pitting anywhere. The case colors on the hammer have faded to a medium brown patina. Traces of blue on the barrel latch. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. No cylinder wobble or front to rear movement. Locks up like new. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and hinge.. The markings are excellent. Untouched front sight never filed on or messed with. The screw heads are all sharp and show very little turning. The grips are very fine with no cracks, chips or repairs and a perfect factory fit. Still shows very fine checkering with very little wear. The bore is very good with very strong rifling with very minor roughness. No big pits or bad spots. Might clean to much better. The chambers are clean with no pitting and very light surface crud that will clean to excellent. This is a nice little Smith Baby Russian that is rock solid over all and early S/N probably first couple months of production with quite a bit of original finish. Never cleaned on or messed with and just shows honest use with no abuse.. $15 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.
