Description:
Harris Holland was the founder of the Holland name in firearms and preceded the H&H designation for the firm. The quality and beauty of the firms rifles is also found in the pre-H&H examples as seen in this one. The rifle has 28 in. lovely Damascus barrels with very good bores. Rifle is chambered for the 500/450 No.1 Express 2 3/4" cartridge. LOP is 14 1/2 in. to a steel butt plate. It weighs 9 lbs. 4 oz. There is about 60% fine scroll crisp engraving on the action and back action locks. Overall excellent condition. Tight and on face with no rust or pits anywhere. The rifle was originally set up for a tang sight as is evidenced by the engaving pattern on the top tang which allows for a bared area for the sight base. It carries a unique modern nicely crafted peep sight which can be folded down for express sight use or removed. The butt stock and forend lumber is nicely grained with crisp checkering and few minor usage dings. Dies and brass go with the rifle. More pix for prospective buyers.
