Description:
Remington 16 gauge, Sportsman Model 48, 28 inch plain barrel with the Modified fixed choke. It's had a recoil pad added a long time ago, the pad is a red ventilated pad marked J.C.Penny and the LOP is 13 & 1/2 inches over the pad. It has a 1/16th inch thich palstic spacer in between the pad and the stock and there is a spacer like that on the pistol grip cap. It's the original Remington pistol grip cap with the bird flying. Ot her than the pad and spacers this shotgun is completly original and it's in very good to fine condition retaining over 95% of it's original blued finins on the metal and over 95% of the varnish on the wood. It's a very solid gun and doesn;t l;ook like its been used very much. This model came with a cut checkering design on the for end and on the pistol grip and it's in fine condition. The bore is excellent and the action work's perfect. There are scattered pin point specks of rust on the action and a bunch of peck marks on the right side of the forend if not for these marks this gun would rate fine to excellent condition, so it's more of a hunting gun than a collectors gun.
