This 1974 vintage Colt New Frontier Buntline Scout .22 rimfire revolver is a nice honest and original gun. It has been shot and carried, but not abused. The 6-shot .22 rimfire caliber Colt New Frontier Scout was offered in a 4.4", 4.75", 6", or 7.5" inch barrel (Buntline model) and featured a flat-top color case hardened steel frame and a ramp front sight with adjustable rear sight. The New Frontier Scout was manufactured from 1970 to 1977, and then re-introduced in 1982 with a cross-bolt safety until being discontinued in 1986. This example is serial number G82405 and is a pre-safety "Buntline" model with the longest barrel offered, 7.5" inches. The original gloss blue factory finish shows some wear and handling marks from being used, but still has a nice look to it overall. Most of the noticeable finish wear appears to be on the high edges from being carried in a holster, however as you can see in the pictures there are small scratches, tiny dings, and minor handling marks scattered about all over the revolver when you look closely. The color case hardened frame still shows some of the attractive original colors, particularly in the protected areas. The bore in this Buntline is in excellent condition. The rifling still looks prominent and sharp and there is no pitting, erosion, bulges, or imperfections of any kind visible. The cylinder bores are equally as clean and bright. The original factory checkered black plastic grips molded on each side with the American Eagle and Rampant Colt are in great shape overall. They are free from cracks or repairs and only show some minor handling/use marks consistent with the rest of the Colt. These factory grips are nicely fit to the frame and perfectly tight with no play in them. Everything on this New Frontier Buntline Scout works exactly 100% like the day it left Colt's factory. The action is smooth and "in time", and all 3 hammer positions work perfectly. The trigger is crisp and breaks cleanly without any slop or grit. I'm sure this little Colt would be a pleasure to shoot and very accurate. If you have always wanted to add one of these New Frontier Buntline Scouts to your collection but wanted one that you could shoot without feeling guilty, this one would be a perfect choice.
