If you are a Springfield Trapdoor collector this is a very rare item. The US Government made these up in 4 variations to be used in training so as not to damage regular rifles. This is variant No III. It is exactly as the books show and is totally original in all respects. All missing or altered parts are supposed to be that way. It is part of what the arsenal did to make them "Fencing Muskets". This is the only one of these we have ever had the opportunity to sell. This is a non functioning antique and there is no FFL or C&R required to purchase.
