#10346, James Lang, 18 Brook Street, New Bond Street, London: A James Lang (Son of Joseph Lang) 450 3 1/4" BPE, A very nice 19th Century Jones Action Underlever Back-Action Non-Rebounding Hammer 450 3 1/4" Black Powder Express Double Rifle with excellent bores, Made in 1891, 28" damascus barrels, Alexander Henry's Patent A&T barrels numbered 3668 & 3669 that most likely were done in house as they are stamped J. L., Full length rib with 1 standing & 2 folding express platinum lined rear sights, Proofed in London, Carved percussion fences, Rear hammer sliding stalking safeties, Swing lever forend release, A neat horn grip cap, Sling eyes, Nickel Silver escutcheon without initials, 14 5/8" LOP over a steel buttplate, 8 lbs. 10 oz., Very Nice wood, Shadowline cheekpiece, 95% coverage of very well cut period scroll engraving that remains sharp and crisp and includes the hammers, top strap, lever, trigger guard and forend, 30% original case colors remain, The damascus barrels have been blacked but a very long time ago, The original wood finish is an honest 85%, The checkering is at 95%, The stock & forend are as solid as the day it was delivered, The metal remains in excellent to excellent plus condition, The bores and chambers are absolutely excellent to near excellent plus & on a scale of 1 to 10 they remain a 9, The rifle is accurate and will produce 2 1/4" groups at 100yards. It has 2 each front sights, 1 the original and a very nice and well-done replacement in the original dovetail cut. This is flat-out one solid 127-year-old gun that has a lot of mileage left in it.
