Description: Serial #1170, 12 Ga. (2 3/4"), 30" barrels with very good, bright bores that has some small spots of freckling along their length. This is a finely made gun that has a slim, boxlock frame with excellent floral scrollwork embellishments. The frame retains original bright color case-hardening on the sides under the standing breech, and the balance has turned a speckled, bright gray patina. The damascus barrels have excellent pattern remaining with a few shallow surface dents on either tube. And old slip-on grip extension is still present on the barrels just ahead of the forend. The checkered walnut forend has a keyhole-shaped horn tip inlay, and a few scattered handling marks in the excellent, original oil finish. The pistol-grip buttstock has a matching oil finish with intact, original hard rubber grip cap and buttplate. The wood has a few scattered handling marks and small surface blemishes with the length of pull measuring 13 1/4" and drops of 2 5/8" at the heel, 1 7/8" at the comb. Forehand & Wadsworth were known for their inexpensive revolvers, but were also capable of making graceful sporting guns along classic British lines. This example is in fine condition, and would make a great addition to any collection.
