Description:
This is a Colt Navy 51 caliber percussion revolver. The gun has a 71/2 inch octagon barrel and is finished with full engraving and and a nickel plated finish. The gun comes in an oak presentation case complete witth a powder flask, powder measure and a partial box of percussion caps. Although of interest, none of the accessory items appear to be genuine or original.
The gun is serial number 150490 giving a manufactured date of 1863. The serial number is properly found on the butt, trigger guard, frame and barrel of the gun. The cylinder is marked "Colts Patent 0490".
The engraving and nickel finish appear to be in good condition although worn somewhat. There is some flaking of the plated finish under the grip where hand contact would be greatest. The original one place walnut grips have been replaced with a rather poor grade of molded stag and an incorrect grip screw.
This is a very nice old Colt that will add to your collection with a little love.
