Description:
A little beauty in a desirable caliber for plinkers and target shooting. This rifle was built in 1886 (Serial No. 2423) and was originally a .22 LR. Some time later it was sent back to Winchester and under Work Order #3709CJ was re-chambered to 22 Hornet. It is now marked "Hornet #16" on the barrel. Maybe 20% Case colors. Tang sight. A realy nice and clear Zeiss scope was mounted in what may well be custom mounts from the trip back to Winchester. The rifle has a beautiful, feather crotch stock in great condition. No cracks or splitting of any sort. The gun does show some exterior wear to the bluing and stock. Small dings and dents. Yet, overall a great little piece that is now 132 years old.
