The Rast & Gasser revolver was adopted by Austria in 1898. It was a very high quality and innovative revolver that was chambered for 8 shots of 8mm Gasser. The Austrian Army has planned to phase them out in favor of the newly adopted Steyr Models 1907 & 1912, however, the start of World War I stymied those plans and the Gasser continued to be produced and issued. One of the really unique features of the revolver is how it can be loaded. When the loading gate is opened to the rear, the hammer is disconnected from the trigger, allowing the user to pull the trigger to revolve the cylinder to the next chamber for loading. Another neat feature is how the side plate swings open to reveal the internals. It functions in both double and single action. This revolver was made in 1918 and is stamped with the dated acceptance stamp “W.n 18”. The left side of the frame is marked “PATENT/RAST & GASSER/WIEN”. The parts are serialized in the military fashion and all match. This revolver comes with a heavy leather military flap holster. The overall condition is very fine. About 90% of the original blue finish remains. Small parts still maintain good straw colors. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The bore is sharp and bright. The wooden grips are in great shape. The action on this revolver is excellent. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4-1/2 inches. Caliber: 8mm Gasser Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
