Beautiful and fully original unmolested example of what is considered by many Savage Collectors to be the most handsome of all of their many iterations. No touch up, no non factory holes (not even sling swivel studs)
Aurther Savage's fireams genuis is now well known; these handsome, light classic rifles represent the zenith of his talent.
The takedown (full not inturrupted thread) is brialliant and comes apart in a moment as does the reassembly. It locks up as new and is not loose at all. It does not have the major common stock split as many were inclined to but does have a little drying stock damage (minimal) near the upper tang where wood and receiver meet and what may be an old repair (small) or the beginning of a small split (non stress area) rear of forend where it meets metal on left side. Please see the detailed pics; we have attempted to show all of these somewhat minor issues. The blue on the barrel is 90%, and lever retains a decent amount of case color. There is no rust or pitting anywhere
This fine rifle was made approx 1930 or slightly before as determined by the (bent designe) safety. These were produced from 1922 to 1941 and the "G" model was the last take down offered by Savage.
Even the factory steel butt plate with the distinctive indian head at the toe end.
The 250 Savage or 250-3000 as it was known was one of Savage's propriatory calibers (now 90 years later still a hot seller) was the lst commercially produced cal to reach velocities of 3000 fps (which is where the name came from)
It has taken game all over the globe including tigers (not reccomended) and dangerous game. It is similar in performance to 243 Win, and 6mm Rem.
