Description:
Serial #716457, .38/200 British, 6" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has a small amount of freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome revolver with a faint, but still legible, U.S. military “P" proof on the butt, and has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, extractor, yoke, and barrel and retains 95-97% of the original commercial bright blue finish with scattered surface scratches (most noticeably on the sides of the barrel), as well as spots of silvering at the muzzle, along the ejector rod, and a few of the high edges and projections. There is a moderate turn-ring on the cylinder (which has begun to turn plum-blue over time), and the hammer and trigger have retained about 80-90% of their original color case-hardening. Extensive British military and post-war commercial Birmingham proof markings are present on the revolver, however, the revolver is not import marked. The smooth walnut grips are numbered to a different gun on the interior, and have moderate-heavy wear and handling marks on both panels. This is a nice WW2 S&W revolver, and is in fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
