Description:
Gorgeous original Parker with History and Provenance. Custom Ordered gun that was presented to Lt Commander James T. Averill on Change of Command by his subordinate officers after a record setting formation flight from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor in January 1934. Ten Years later Averill was killed when the plane carrying him lost control while being catapalted from the flight deck of the USS Enterprise in the South Pacific. A wonderful 10 page story is color highlighted and detailed in the Summer 2014 issue of the DGJ by noted author Steve Cambria. Steve has written many articles for the DGJ and in my humble opinion catures each one with style and thought. A true pleasure read! Factory finishes remain vibrant with 90% color and 99% blue and wood. 1 1/2 frame, ejectors, beavertail forend and straight grip. As new gun that is fabulous. Gun will be accompanied by Pop Averill's Cap , family documentation and Steves original work sheets for arcticle and Parker provided case.......Fabulous Gun!!!!!
