Description:

VERY NICE Swiss K31 STRAIGHT PULL Bolt Action Rifle

Made in 1948 with TROOP TAG Under Butt Plate

Here we present a Swiss Model K31 Straight Pull Bolt Action Rifle, made in 1948 by Waffenfabrik Bern in Switzerland. The design was conceived under the direction of Colonel Adolf Furrer and was adopted in 1931, hence the designation. These rifles were manufactured from 1931 to 1958. They have a reputation among shooters for being very precise, reliable, and accurate, with the ability to fire quickly. One of the most unique and differentiating features of the K31 is the straight pull bolt with the “beer keg” bolt handle. Instead of unlocking the bolt by pivoting the bolt by its handle, the shooter simply pulls straight back on the handle. The muzzle is crowned, contributing to accuracy. The front sight is a hooded blade and the rear a long-range leaf.

This rifle features a troop identification card under the butt plate. It reads “Jpser Peter/Mettau/Hb: Stabsbattr. 14” which tells us the soldier’s name, and that he worked on the Howitzer Battery 14. The top of the chamber is marked with the Swiss Cross.

The overall condition is in fine condition. The original blue finish is about 95%. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The importer mark is tastefully inconspicuous on the underside of the barrel, between the muzzle and the end of the stock. The stock is solid, with light handling marks. The bore is fine. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic Swiss rifle that promises to be as good a shooter as it is reputed to be.
