Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Certified Check, Money Order Description: BRITISH Antique BROWN BESS Percussion Musket “V.R./TOWER” Marked Lock Dated “1816” Here we present an antique British Brown Bess Percussion Musket, made in 1816 as a flintlock and converted circa the 1830s to the newer, more reliable percussion firing system. These muskets found themselves in the hands of the British military and the East India Company all around the world. The lock is marked with the crown cipher “V.R./TOWER” and “1816”. The initials were for Queen Victoria or Victoria Regina in Latin. The metal surfaces are dark. The markings are somewhat legible. The stock is very worn, brittle, and held together with some tape in the middle. The smooth bore is dusty. The action is not functional. Own the original!
