Description:
This is an all original and all matching Remington #1 sporting rifle in 40 caliber with an unaltered 1-11/16 bottleneck chamber. (40-50 bottleneck). Serial number is 4279 which puts its year of manufacturer around 1875. This rifle wears a special order 30" barrel of a standard weight octagon contour. Standard barrel length was 26" but longer could be ordered at $1.00 for every additional 2" up to 34". All markings show a healthy aging but are still present and legible. Wood shows equal wear with a few scratches and dings but integrity is still solid as the day is was new. Bore sports an even shallow pitting with shallow rifling and an even crown. Thin even patina covers this old ghost but doesn't obstruct any function of moving parts. Crisp hammer/trigger engagement, solid springs, clean screws, clean firing pin and extractor. This is an ATF qualified antique and will ship directly to the buyer. If there's anything more that I didn't cover please ask.
