Description:
Fox AE Grade 16 Gauge SxS
1913, FACTORY ENGLISH WALNUT, EJECTORS, 99%

General Specs: Fox, Year 1912, 16 Gauge, 5lbs 15oz, SxS
Serial Number: 300112

Ansley H. Fox came out with what most believe to be the best proportioned 16ga. gun made in America late in 1912 when they announced the availability of their new 16 and 20-gauge guns, both made on a 20-gauge frame.  The first full year of production was 1913 and the serial number range began at 300,000. The early A Grade engraving pattern was a simple scroll pattern in English style.  The first few months of production small bore Fox guns got early A style engraving, and then came William Gough in 1913 and changed it all.  All A Grades from then on had the more familiar style deep vine and foliate type engraving.  This gun, sn300112 made in 1913 is one of a small handful of 16ga. A Grade Fox guns you will ever see with early A engraving.  Most Fox enthusiasts are aware that the early guns seemed to be made with a little more care than the later guns as well, with smooth polished parts, finely figured English walnut, and a better fit and finish in general than the later guns.  You will notice that on this gun, weighing 5lbs. 15oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin with its 28" number 4 weight Krupp steel barrels and gorgeous figured English walnut with perfect grain layout running through the wrist for strength.  This gun has been fully restored with 99% blue and bone/charcoal case color remaining.  The barrels are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, and this gun has been fully stripped, cleaned, inspected, and lubricated before reassembly and is now a “VFI CERTIFIED GUN” with a 90-day mechanical warranty.  The ejectors, balance, weight, wood figure, rarity (only about 150 with early A Style engraving), modern stock dimensions, and knock-out overall good looks makes this a very desirable gun for your upland and clay target pursuits.  The cost of this gun includes the full restoration (a $3000 value) and you don’t even have the 1 year wait that went with it!  Thanks for looking!
