LARGE BORE British Antique Percussion FOWLER
10 Gauge “Goose Gun”
Here we present an antique British Percussion Fowling Piece in 10 Gauge, manufactured circa the mid-1800s. This large bore single barrel percussion shotgun was made to bring back the game. Its large bore would have been especially suited to large water fowl like goose. This piece features a round barrel with a sighting bead at the muzzle. The fore end cap is of pewter. The rest of the hardware is of iron. The trigger guard has a nice finial, but this was meant to be a no-frills hunting tool. The only visible markings are the British proof marks on the left side of the barrel.
The overall condition is very good. The iron bears a deep, dark brown patina. The markings are clear. The stock is dark, smooth and solid. The bore is in good condition, smooth and dark. The action is excellent and crisp. Here is one perfect for the lodge or maybe even a hunt!
