This rifle has an overall armory re-applied blue finish mixing with an evenly freckled plum-brown patina throughout. The high edges and projections have likewise begun to fade to a mild gray color with further silvering at the muzzle and dark freckling along the metal ramrod. The walnut buttstock and forend are in very good condition with an added military oil finish added over numerous small handling marks and blemishes throughout. Extensive military issue markings are present on the right side of the buttstock along with a partial rack number stencil in flaked white paint. The gun is equipped with a high quality reproduction buff leather sling and is one of many obsolete Martini-Henry rifles converted to smoothbore for use with the Mk. II buckshot round in the anti-riot role. This is a fine example of an interesting Martini-Henry variant and would make a great addition to any collection.
