Description:
Very good shape 1840 Heavy Cavalry Sabre. Sword fits scabbard like a glove. Blade is in very good shape with a couple of flea bites. This sword was period sharpened. Has Roman numeral III marked on the pommel, guard and scabbard throat. Is engraved Columbia S.C. at the top of the blade. No other markings. Original wire and leather in great shape. Scabbard is in very good to excellent condition with a dark patina. You be the judge on this one. Very interesting 1840 Heavy Cavalry sword that could have been in the Mexican American War and most certainly the Civil War.
