Description:
Colt .31 cal 1849 pocket pistol and accessories, made in 1863. The gun is in working order, no blue or colors, the rifling is in surprizingly nice shape with some pitting visable, all matching numbers including the take down wedge. the barrel is octagon shaped on the top flat a one line stamping that reads " ADRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U. S. AMERICA". The cylinder stamping is a "stagecoach hold up scene" it is faint but decernable. The cylinder is clean and the nipples ar clear and not mushroomed. The frame is stamped Colts Patent, the brass part of the frame is stamped on the left side 31cal, The wooden grips appear to be original and in very good condition. The loading plunger works properly. This gun appears to have bee little used, and well kept.
The leather holster needs work by a "leather worker" It was wrapped at some time in the past with newspaper and the paper stuck fast to the leather. The stiching has long since dry rotted and needs restiching the flap hole for the brass stud is torn. But with some TLC the holster could be reconditioned, We are leaving it as is.
The powder flask appears original, it has no markings or numbers, the flask body appears to be tin, and decoratively stamped as was common, the neck, pour spout and valve are brass and the valve is in working condition.
The bullet mold is in fine condition and could be used to make the bullets for this gun. It is all steel and stamped "Colts Patent" on the sprue cutter near the hinge pin.
Two antique percussion cap tins are included, one says ELEY BROs LONDON, the other is an old "UMC" percussion cap tin, both in good condition.
Over all this would make a good addition to any collection. The only this missing is the wooden box these guns were usualy sold in.
