Johann Springer Shotgun - Vintage Firearms Inc - REDUCED PRICE

Description:
Johann Springer 16 Bore Side by Side

FINEST OF AUSTRIAN SHOTGUNS, 5LBS. 11OZ., GORGEOUS! **REDUCED PRICE***

General Specs: Johann Springer, Year 1913, 16 Gauge, 5lbs 11oz, SxS
Serial Number: 1098.13

Joh. Springer is one of the finest names in Continental sporting arms creating their masterpieces in Austria's famed gun center near Vienna since 1855.  Purveyors of their fine firearms to the Emperor of Austria, the royal families of Monaco, Archduke Ferdinand, and many other elite sporting figures throughout Europe and Russia, the rifles and shotguns produced by Springer had no equals.  This fine, delicate boxlock ejector gun, sn1098.13 built in 1913, is a gorgeous little European double with all the finest features and tons of original case color and condition.  The action has a fancy scalloped back side, rebated frame to hold the head of the stock in place, finely sculpted reinforcing bolsters on the bottom of the frame, fine English style rose and scroll engraving, near perfect screws, 85% vivid case colors, crisp double triggers, strong well-timed ejectors, everything in perfect mechanical order.  This action is overbuilt to perfection, with 5 locking mechanisms- Greener style cross-bolt, double underlug bolts, sideclips, and barrel lug protruding through the action bottom.  Each one of these mechanisms prevents movement of the barrel flats and breech face on the receiver, minimizing wear and costly future repairs.  The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, with the lever centered.  The long, graceful, 29” Krupp steel barrels are in perfect condition, with mirror shiny bores, no dents or dings, choked LM/M with nice wall thicknesses and 99% blue.  The wood is supremely inletted to the stock, with all the graceful curves, sharp drop points, and finely cut checkering.  There are no splits or repairs.  Just look at the inletting around the forend tip and the action and realize there are few humans alive today that can perform this kind of workmanship.  Weighing just 5lbs. 11oz. it is a delight in hand and moves with little effort.  This is an extraordinary upland gun that will do well as you practice on clay targets as well.  Priced to sell, this is a lot of gun for the money from a preeminent Austrian gunmaker built in the heyday of the side x side shotgun.  Thanks for looking!
