Description:
Lefever H Grade 20 Gauge – RARE, DOUBLE BARREL GUN, VINTAGE FIREARMS

Description:
Lefever H Grade 20 Gauge Side by Side
RARE, DOUBLE BARREL GUN, VINTAGE FIREARMS

General Specs: Lefever, Year 1912, 20 Gauge, 6lbs, SxS
Serial Number: 65619

The records for Dan Lefever’s Syracuse made double shotguns are only estimated production numbers but are known to be a fair assessment of the guns made, with a total production of just over 60,000 guns (compared to 250,000 Parkers or 500,000 L.C. Smith guns).  Lefever Arms was the first of the “Big Five” vintage American double gun makers to close their doors, ending their production in 1914.  Ithaca Gun company bought out Lefever Arms and produced a few more until about 1916.  There were few graded 20 bore Syracuse Lefevers ever produced.  Bob Elliot, in his book “Uncle Dan Lefever, Master Gunmaker”, states that less than 6% of all production involved 20ga. guns, with the majority of all 20’s being the entry level DS grade guns.  There was likely less than 450 G Grade Lefevers made in 20ga., fewer with steel barrels, fewer yet with the modest scroll engraving on the sideplates.  THIS IS A RARE GUN OFFERED AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE.  How many graded 20ga. Lefevers can you find for sale???  With the rarity factor considered, and with nice shootable dimensions, this gun can be added to your collection as a sound investment. This graceful Lefever, sn65619 made in 1912, is a delightful 6lb. gun that balances on the hinge pin for superb handling characteristics with its 28” fluid steel barrels that still have excellent shiny bores.  The gun is choked Cylinder/LM, making it an excellent upland gun over dogs, grouse and woodcock, and most clay target games. All parts are original and wear the same serial number and the mechanics are excellent.  The gun has been wonderfully restored with case colors that are dead on for original Lefever case colors.  The stock dimensions are modern and the full-length butt stock terminates in a proper buttplate.  This is a “no excuse” kind of gun that you will be proud to own and very few gunners will likely have even seen one, let alone owned one.  Small bore Lefever Arms Co. guns are seldom seen for sale (not to be confused with the LEFEVER NITRO BY ITHACA) so don’t miss out on this great little gun.  Thanks for looking!
