Description:
Guaranteed original Flintlock U.S. Model 1817 .54 Caliber rifle by Henry Deringer. Dated 1823 on barrel tang and lockplate. Lock marked with large US over DERINGER over PHILAD, barrel marked with US, and P proofs and inspected LS (luther Sage) on barrel and stock flat. US stamped on buttplate tang and single letter D stamped behind triggerguard tang. All original flint lock parts with pan, frizzen, tumbler, bridle, sear and lock plate all stamped with matching factory assembly number '2'. Hammer, top jaw and jaw screw have matching factory assembly character '&' stamped on them. Barrel underneath at breech and breech plug stamped with matching assembly number '2'. Barrel is original flint barrel with undisturbed slightly burned touch hole, not a reconversion. Fine deeply rifled .54 caliber bore. Lock mechanics are excellent. All lock parts are matching aged gunmetal gray, barrel and iron mounts are a smooth dark aged brown patina, light pitting as expected around touch hole and breeach of barrel. Orignal screws, sights, ramrod and sling swivels. Stock is excellent, no damage anywhere with an aged glossy oil finish overall. An honest early Derringer contract "Common Rifle" in original flint lock configuration that has seen very little use and was very well cared for. E-mail me for additional information and photos if needed.
