About Us: When calling ask for the Gun Library

Description:
Used. This was the second-most widely used infantry long arm of the Civil War behind the Springfield.  The British used this type of percussion musket to great effect in the Crimean war from 1853-1856.  These rifles were used by both the Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War. The first shipments of this model went to the Confederacy in September 1861. About 500,000 Enfield percussion muskets were sent over durning the Civil War. This particular musket was manufactured at the Tower Arsenal in England and was sent to the US through the supplier Barnett of London. The sling included seems to be period correct but is in poor condition. There appears to be a Belgian proof mark on the barrel (ELG in an oval).
