Description:
Serial #S963156, .38 Special, 2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a splendid revolver that retains 99% plus of the original blue finish with only a few very minor spots of silvering, and a single minor surface scratch on the cylinder. The revolver has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, yoke, cylinder, and extractor, and the hammer and trigger have nearly all of the original color case-hardening remaining. The checkered, diamond-center, S&W medallion grips (numbered to the gun on the interior) are likewise in excellent shape with only trace flattening of the points on either side. Lock-up is solid, and the action functions flawlessly. Included with the revolver is a 2017 dated, S&W factory letter that lists a shipping date of December 16, 1947, to Logan-Gregg Hardware Co. of Pittsburgh, PA. This is a fantastic, almost unused .38 M&P that was made before the introduction of S&W's short action in 1948. It would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
