Description:
SOLD...REDUCED PRICE. Seller has came down on the price !!! Good deal here...Antique 1886 Winchester 40-82 caliber. I am selling this for a friend that bought this gun from me a few years ago along with another antique 94 I will be listing soon.. Here is a decent ole 86 Winchester. In the 40-82 caliber. S/N 33017 and made in 1889.. Has the standard 26” octagon barrel. The bore is good and shootable with very visible rifling and some minor roughness. No big pits or craters and shoots good. No rings or bulges. The mechanics are excellent and it feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. All markings are good. The metal has no finish and is a medium gray patina with no pitting. The rear sight is a longer period of use replacement as you can see. The front sight is original. There is a hole in the PAT dates on the lower tang as you can see. I have no idea why as it serves no purpose but it is there. The forearm is very good with no splits, cracks or repairs. Shows normal wear with no issues. The butt stock is a little rough with chips out by the upper tang on both sides {see photos}. A couple grain cracks on the left side as you can see but is very solid and stable. Has a 1” grain split at the toe by the butt plate but is still solid. Could use a better butt stock if you have one and would improve the gun much better but it is what it is. The screws are sharp and clean but the upper tang screws shows wear and the right end cap screw for the forearm has blue so is probably replaced but it is a correct screw. Not much more to say on this one but a well used ole 86 at a reasonable price. It functions great and is a good shooter for someone on a budget that needs a pretty honest 86. Still in a good caliber and octagon barrel and getting hard to find these that can be bought for less than $2500 anymore. If you have a better stock and original rear sight you can improve this gun quite a bit. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping. Thank you for looking and check back often as I have more guns to get listed soon.
