The drilling, combo shotgun/rifle, features 26 3/4" barrels, double hammers, deep relief engraving and a cartridge compartment. The receiver has deep relief European floral and game scene engraving on the sides, top and bottom, depecting red stags, a hare and a sporting dog. There is silver inlay at the breech end (chamber area) of the shotgun barrels.There is an elongated crack in the butt-stock, the rifle barrel trigger/hammer mechanism is not operating, and the barrels and side ribs need re-soldering. SOLD Manufacturer: A turn of the 19 century sporting gun, late 1800s to early 1900s. Caliber Info: 16 Ga./16 Ga./9.3X72mmR Chambers: 2 9/16" Shotgun barrel chambers. Metal Condition: Barrels finish is worn and has patina and faded bluing in areas. There are three dings in left barrel and one in right barrel. The barrels and side rib joints have an old solder repair throughout their length (not the best job), and the first few inches a Wood Condition: Good minus, with scratches and dings, small chip behind receiver's right side-plate. There is a significant crack in the butt stock, which appears to have started at the top of the comb and extends following the wood grain to each side, about four inches Bore Condition: Shotgun bores have some light shine and some light pitting. The rifling is very pronounced, tall lands/deep grooves, however the greyed bores are rust frosted throughout and there are a couple of pits. Barrels: 26 3/4" Barrels. Triggers: Double triggers. Stock: Walnut stock with a round knob pistol grip, which is checkered and incorporates a deep relief floral carving. There is also an ammunition compartment with a hinged and engraved door, and includes a sling swivel. Stock Dimensions: 13 3/4" Length of pull. Fore End: Walnut, checkered with schnabel tip.
