I went out and got a good digital scale. I wanted to make sure I had an accurate weight for the gun. Sorry that I cannot provide free shipping for this gun. Rates just keep going up.
This rifle weighs 7 pounds, 11 oz. The actual weigh hovers back and forth between 7 lb. 11 oz and 7 lb. 10.9 oz.
Very Early Griffin & Howe # 134 (late 1923) rifle (30/06 Govt.) that was engraved by Rudolph Kornbrath and stocked by Seymour Griffin himself. Monte Mandarino, one of the world's great gun experts documented, authenticated, and owned the gun for some years. The letter of documentation will accompany the gun.
The gun has a 22" barrel, and the LOP is 14 1/8. This rifle has many of the characteristics of an eary Griffin gun: schnaubel forearm tip, small 3/4 swivels, horn grip cap with checkered screw, and the early Kornbrath engraved-border edged trapdoor butt plate that was imported from Germany. There are two very tiny marks on the one side of the barrel that are photographed--it might have been bumped in a safe or something at one time. There are pictures of the stock which show the impressions and small indentations of a gun that was made 95 years ago. The rifle features a full, tapered ramp in the 1/3 Octagon, 2/3 round barrel. Note the front sight hood: it is not knurled as the later G&H guns were. But, it fits eactly as it should. I believe it is original.
There is bluing wear on the top of the action (see pictures). There is also blue wear on the floorplate and trigger guard. Part of the floorplate is a plumish color. There is a very tiny bit of freckling by the front sight on the right side of the gun. There is a very tiny bit of freckling on the left side of the gun by the caliber nomenclature. The rifle exhibits most of the characteristics of the early G&H guns in addition to what I have noted: The top of the receiver has been polished and blued but not stippled. The bolt and raceway are blued; the follower is plain. I believe the entire gun is original. The original Lyman 48 sight retains a fine aperature. Folding leaf sights, engraved and stippled, are mounted on the ramp. Unfortunately, Griffin & Howe currently does not have research information available for the gun.

Note: A G&H gun with Kornbrath engraving on this site sold for $14,000, albeit with a bit more engraving than this gun. However, this is a very good buy for a Kornbrath gun, especially, too with the Griffin stock. Michael Petrov noted that the two best inletters were Seymour Griffin and Adolph Minar. Look at other G&H's and compare--once it's gone, it's gone.
