Description:
Winchester Model 54, 22 Hornet, made in 1934. Serial number 42089A. Gun is all original except for the one scope block that was fitted in front ot the rear sight, and the hood is not original to the gun, but fits fairly well. No extra holes in the stock. length of pull is 13 7/8 inches. A vast majority of the Model 54 22 Hornets that I have seen were cut out for the Winchester Lyman sight (the 48W) and then had the sight removed, which makes the gun look bad to me. Fortunately, the stock on this gun is fully intact. Most of the original factory laquer has worn away, but the wood is really in excellent shape overall. The wood fits pretty much proud to the butt plate. Note the 3rd picture: there are some small indentations in front of the pistol grip in the stock on the left side.
The bolt is serial numbered to the gun. Note the bolt; it has not been cycled much. The bore is excellent. There are little marks, some minor scratches here and there on the metal and stock. I see so much variation on what people call "95%" condition, etc. Take a good look at the pictures and ask questions. That is the best route to go.
