Description:
SOLD..Antique 1893 Marlin Octagon Barrel in 38-55. A great shooting 1893 Marlin. Caliber is 38-55 and has the standard 26” octagon barrel. S/N 105887 and made in 1894 second year production. The bore is a new re line from a friend and well known expert gun smith Bobby Hoyt. It was re lined with a hammer forged liner so it will handle jacketed bullets as well as cast with no worries for wear.. I bought this gun from a dishonest seller a few years ago that said the bore was bright like new. Well, I got it and the bore had been drilled out smooth with drill marks that he thought was rifling ??? NO returns he said !!!! and no, it was not a smooth bore.. I had no choice but to have it re lined. Mechanics are excellent and it feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. Shoots like a new gun of course... Hammer and sear notches are excellent and positive. Nice gun with the barrel still retaining traces of original blue on the bottom flats where protected. Some case colors on the bottom of the receiver under the lever and some silvered out colors on the receiver and lever where protected.. Excellent markings. Original front sight being the rocky mountain style blade and original rear sight with elevator. The wood is very nice and solid. The forearm fits tight very tight and proud to the metal all around. NO splits, cracks or repairs and very little handling dings or scratches. The butt stock fits very tight and full to the metal and proud at the receiver also. No splits or cracks but but a couple tiny chips at the upper tang and receiver {see photo}.. It does show some minor and honest used dings and scratches butt nothing bad at all. Nice wood and nothing that has been cleaned or sanded on. Screws are all clean and sharp with no burring or tinkering. Just a nice ole 93 Marlin and too bad it had to go through what it did but it is what it is... I am listing this gun at what I have invested in it and will probably take a wash'in on it but I am open for reasonable offers. If not, I guess I always have room for a early antique 93 Marlin that shoots as good as the day it was made.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping. Thank you for looking and check back soon as I have many more guns to get listed ..
