>.46 rimfire same as early Remington five shot conversions. .458 diameter heel type bullet to fit .44 cap and ball bore. NRA VG to Fine. No refinish and mechanically tight and new. Blue hammer, 24" bbl.. Dark patina but not pitted and rusty. Early iindication is serial # 512x which is marked : "Ballard Patent Nov 5, 1861" and "Merwin and Bray, Agts., New York" also with ---- "Ball & Williams, Worchester, Mass." Also suggests that the .46 rf long existed prior to 1868 as a rifle and carbine shell.
