Here is an excellent Model 1873 in .22 Short with 24" barrel. This is the one gun missing in many Winchester collections. Very few are found in this condition. The serial number is 218203, mfg. in 1886.
I'll let the pictures determine condition but will explain the best I can. There are no pits in the rifle and it still maintains about 40% of the original blue on the receiver. The rest has turn to a pleasant plum brown. The barrel and mag tube have blue in protected areas but is mostly plum brown. The bore in the barrel is very good. The butt stock has most of it's original varnish with minimal dings for a 142 year old gun. The forend doesn't have much varnish left but is smooth with minimal dings. The stocks are unsanded and are proud around the metal. Crescent butt plate with trap door. The period correct peep sight has a patent date on it for May 6, 84. The screws are nice except for one of the bottom screws and dust cover screw (see photo's).
