We normally ship USPS Priority Mail which should be 2-day ship. Shipping is actual cost with a minimum of $30.00 for pistols and $50.00 for rifles/shotguns to ship to most of the 48 contiguous states. Shipping to Alaska may require an extra fee. Description:
This is an excellent example of a long-range hunting rifle. The Model 700 is one the best bolt action rifles available and is prized for its long-range shooting abilities. The Varmint Special is a subvariant intended for hunting varmints at great distances – hence the heavy barrel. This also makes it suitable for long range shooting in general regardless of the target type. Heavy barrels help absorb recoil and do not heat as quickly as thinner barrels do, allowing for quicker follow-up shots and longer firing times before having to ceasefire to allow the barrel to cool. The rifle is equipped with a Redfield 6-18x 5-Star scope which is well suited to sighting targets at distance. The rifle comes with two stocks – the original checkered wood stock and the fiberglass stock it currently sits in. The former is in excellent condition though it has a few nicks on the grip. The fiberglass stock exhibits minor wear which isn’t surprising. Unlike a wooden stock, fiberglass stocks are meant for use in the worst conditions and in rough terrain. Overall, the rifle is in excellent condition. The bluing is in excellent shape, with the exception of the bolt handle, which exhibits some loss similar to a patina. The bore is particularly clean with little powder residue being present, suggesting the rifle was fired on an infrequent basis. Because of its heavy barrel, there is no reason this rifle could not also be used as a target rifle. 308 Winchester is easy to reload and loaded ammo can be found at good prices.
