Description:
This is a standard model one and a half second issue revolver. The serial number is 54955. This model's serial number started at 26301 and ended at 127100. This makes this a early production pistol. They were produced between 1868 to 1875. The second issue pistols had fluted cylinders. The earlier model had round cylinders. This pistol can shoot 32 long or 32 short rim fire ammunition. The bore and chambers are bright and clean with no pitting. The action works perfectly with no problems. The cylinder is properly marked and matched to the frame. The barrel is also marked and matched to the frame. There is no damage to the hinge. The hinge is tight with no play. The rosewood grips are serial numbered to the pistol. The grips retain all of the origimal varnish. There is no cracks or damage to the grips. There are some slight blue loss to the cylinder and frame in certain areas. The hammer and trigger retain their color cased finish, however the finish is slightly faded. The overall condition of this pistol would rate a 92% with the bluing and color case finish. This is a really nice early second issue Smith & Wesson revolver that has not seen much use. Would be a nice addition to any collection. Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details.
