Herfurth" as well as "Madison Wisconsin". On the opposite side of the bbl is marked "Remington". A very fine gun. 32" full oct bbl measuring about 1-1/8" at muzzle, globe front sight, flat top sporting style early rear sight and a very interesting unique tang sight. Wood is in excellent cond with one retaining keeper on the front. All iron fixtures. Complete with working double set triggers. Iron trigger guard is quite ornate and nicely done. A cheek piece on the left hand side. Large heavy Schuetzen style buttstock with nice checkering at the wrist. No cracks or splits. Bbl has sharp corners, good markings and turning a pleasing plum color. Good traces of orig blue in protected areas. German silver forend cap. Replacement ram rod. Missing one ram rod retaining thimble. Orig palm rest. Gun had been in the family for generations and comes with bullet starter, powder measure, bullet mold and powder flask. I can't say these tools are orig to the gun but the family says they have always been with the gun. The gun is a very unique high quality target rifle where the accoutrements are not of that same quality. A beautiful old Schuetzen rifle of the percussion era! On consignment from the family.
